The stores are nearly complete. During Sept and Oct we need some volunteers to help complete the floor, drainage, lighting and shelving so that it’s ready to use.
1st Winchester Scout AGM is on the 14th July at 8pm at 1st Place. It will be a quick an minimalist AGM which will cover only the key requirements under the governance process of the Scout Association. However, it makes it no less important for parents and leaders to pay attention to our reports and ensure that we in the Executive Committee are doing our job to help run the Group successfully. The following documents will be presented for agreement at the AGM. Questions can be raised before or during the AGM.

We have now fitted a folding partition wall inside 1st Place that will allow flexible use for the hall space – different activities running simultaneously. Half the cost was the donation we received from the Mayor’s Charity in 2015, the other half, of course, was down to donations and fundraising that our parents have all been involved in.
Thanks to everyone for helping us to develop the building and make it a safe and adventurous place to do Scouting in.

This year’s major Fundraiser for 1st Winchester Scout Group is on 21st May with our annual mammoth Car Parking effort in support of Sparsholt College Countryside Day. It’s a vital day for us, so please get the date in your diaries. If you plan ahead you can get a family ticket to enter the Countryside Day for FREE whilst parents take it in turns to help out. We need about 20 adults in the morning and the same in the afternoon. We also need people to help during a few evenings before the day and we are looking for a person to help Tristan directly in supporting his efforts to coordinate activities. Could you do this? Thanks everyone for a really great response to our efforts to get our Subscriptions right. As you will appreciate, subs are a critical income for us as they pay for vital things such as:
We pay this out for every child, whether or not they have paid their subs. So when we get 95% of subs in, it really gives us some spare cash to pay for other things like replacement equipment, new equipment, courses to run new activities, etc.

We’re trying something a little different this year. All Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, families, siblings and friends are invited to our Family Fun Day at Pinsent Campsite on Saturday 11th June from 1300-1600. Please put this date in your diary. More details to follow.
