The safety of your child is our utmost priority. The Scout Association has a rule book called Policy Organisation and Rules (POR) which details exactly how all activities must be undertaken. All activities are planned within those rules so that the safety of your child is maximised even during the most adventurous of activities. All uniformed leaders, parents who are occasional helpers, executive committee members and many others who help out in other ways undergo a full DBS check. Any parents who help out on evenings and are not DBS checked are always supervised by those who are.
What Does It Cost?
As a charity, our Scout Group charges subscriptions to cover running costs, but we seek to keep our charges as low as possible. Subscriptions need to cover costs for our national infrastructure, insurance and other support (The Scout Association), Hampshire County Scouts which provides most of our Leader training and Winchester District Scouts which provides Pinsent Campsite and other important local facilities and services. We then need to pay for the building, running costs, uniform, equipment, badges, and other overheads to keep the Group running.
Subscriptions are paid termly via Direct Debit via Online Scout Manager (OSM), one of our administration systems that help to simplify scouting for everyone involved. It is a secure system which we have been using for some years now. Subscriptions will increase by £1 in May 2017 and will therefore be:

There was no subscriptions increase in 2016. We review subscriptions early each calendar year. If you believe you have or will have problems paying some or all of the subscription fees, we would like to discuss your situation before you choose to leave or to not join the Scouts. We have a fund available that can help parents during periods of hardship. It is called the RBR Fund.
What is Gift Aid?
This is a scheme being run by the Inland Revenue which allows us to claim back from HMRC the tax that you have paid prior to paying your subscriptions (or any other donation). When prompted via emails, please tick the Gift Aid box if you wish to and are eligible.
